“Noragyugh” 35 kV modular Substation — A New Stage in Sustainable Energy Supply

Armenia is preparing to host a major international event — the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), scheduled for October 19–30, 2026. This significant event presents a unique opportunity for the country to showcase its environmental potential, rich natural and cultural heritage, and to strengthen its position in the global green agenda. In this context, an important infrastructure project is being implemented — the construction of the “Noragyugh” 35 kV modular substation, aimed at ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply for the conference and surrounding areas. The substation is scheduled to be commissioned in September 2026, ahead of COP17. The contract for the construction of the modular substation was signed with LLC “EKRA Caucasus.” Under the agreement, “EKRA Caucasus” assumed responsibility for design works, equipment supply, as well as the organization and coordination of construction activities. The design phase has now been fully completed, and construction works are currently underway, being carried out by the subcontractor “Roadconstruct.” The construction is being carried using advanced technological solutions and high-quality equipment. The substation has a capacity of 2×16 MVA and is equipped with modern digital systems that ensure efficient management and a high level of energy security. The dry-type transformers used comply with modern environmental standards, minimizing environmental impact. The “Noragyugh” modular substation will supply power to the “Meridian Expo Center”, “Yerevan-3” Hydropower Plant (5 MVA), as well as nearby areas, contributing to the development of the region’s energy infrastructure. The project fully complies with international environmental and ISO standards, highlighting Armenia’s commitment to sustainable development and a green economy. “EKRA Caucasus” LLC demonstrates a high level of professionalism and responsibility, ensuring the efficient and high-quality implementation of the construction of the “Noragyugh” substation. The modern technological solutions applied by the company, along with its advanced expertise, have significantly contributed to ensuring the high quality and reliability of the project. The company once again confirms its reputation as a reliable partner, contributing to the development and modernization of Armenia’s energy infrastructure. The commissioning of the “Noragyugh” modular substation is an important step toward building a modern, reliable, and sustainable energy system, while ensuring the successful hosting of major international events in Armenia.
